Near the top of list of the world’s finest Arabica coffees is Kenya AA. Of the seven official grades of coffee beans traded at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange each Tuesday, Kenya AA is the largest coffee bean size grade. The AA denotes the size, shape and density of the bean. The grading scale from largest to smallest is AA, AB, PB, C, E, TT and T. It is a well-known fact that the largest bean, AA, is going to produce more of the oils that give your coffee the delicious aroma and intense flavor.
As the story goes with great brandy liquor so goes the story of Kenya coffee. Not all Kenya AA is great coffee but all great Kenya coffee is AA grade. In Kenya, like many other countries, the coffee trade is political and most all coffee is purchased and sold by cooperatives of many small farmers in order to assure the farmer receives a fair price for the coffee. We tasted many coffee selections from Kenya is order to find one of unique quality. This particular selection is high mountain grown strictly hard bean coffee. We have added a bit more roast to our lighter version of this selection to bring out a bit more body and acidity. You also will taste a finish that is unique to the Kenya AA bean. This special blend is packaged and shipped in an air-tight, high-strength black zipper bag with a degassing valve to keep your coffee as fresh as possible.
